Concert for the Remembrance Day of the Pontic Hellenic Genocide.
The State Orchestra of Thessaloniki commemorates the Remembrance Day of the Pontic Hellenic Genocide with the world premiere of the work ‘Tears, Ashes and Remembrances’ by the internationally recognized Greek composer Kostas Christides, commissioned by TSSO for this national anniversary. TSSO is conducted by Michalis Economou.
The program also includes the ‘First Violin Concerto’ by the contemporary Finnish composer Magnus Lindbergh, where the pioneering composer manages to combine poetry with virtuosity in “one of the best violin concertos written in recent decades” (The Guardian). Soloist is the distinguished Swiss violinist Sebastian Bohren.
Haydn’s ‘Symphony no. 104’ is the last of the so-called ‘London Symphonies’ and is a refined, lively and witty work that reveals all the compositional wisdom of its creator.
